Business Steve

Steve at NAB

Certain that I wanted to get into TV since I was 12 years old, I got my wish and started my career in TV at WKOW-TV in Madison Wisconsin in 1980. I leaned into emerging technology and have made a career out of working with TV and film technology’s leading waves ever since. Since 2012 I have led APIX Solutions LLC, which you can learn more about here.

Social Action Steve

I consider myself to be a Vincentian and have been a servant leader for the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in various roles, most significantly as a home visitor. It is an amazing experience to see life through the joyful, hopeful eyes of child blind to heir own poverty, and to be able to help in some way, no matter how small.

Shake things up Steve

Probably an inescapably baked in part of my essence, for better and for worse, is a knack for challenging the status quo. Sometimes I unwittingly poke the bear by asking questions that are impolite or intrusive. It began with the notes from the nuns on my report card, and continues to this day. In between I’ve helped stage a milk spoiling protesst at Badger Boy’s State in 1975, closed out the decade a member of the Pail and Shovel control of the Wisconsin Student Association at University of Wisconsin Madison.

I co-produced and hosted the very first local, broadcast television show to feature music videos, again pushing the envelop. At least until Charlie on Line Two dropped the F bomb. (see that clip here)
