Steve Smedberg – Founder

Before forming APIX Solutions, LLC, Steve has worked for Weather Central, LP which was recently acquired by The Weather Channel. Most recently Steve was senior vice president and general manager of Weather Central’s enterprise division, an internal start-up focused on delivering solutions to industries outside of broadcast. In this role Steve had full P&L responsibility and grew the business from scratch to profitability and $1.5M in annual sales in less than two years and helped position the company for successful sale.

Previously Steve was vice president of operations, product development, and marketing for Weather Central’s core media division. In this role he directly managed a staff of 9 employees with approximately 130 indirect reports and was responsible for controlling an annual expense budget in excess of $1 million, not counting payroll. Under Steve’s watch, the company implemented a product and marketing strategy that took the company from a distant second place in market share to market leadership with more than $20M in annual revenues.

While attending the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a B.S. in 1984, Steve began his career as a television producer and director with the local ABC affiliate in Madison, WI. Steve then went on to work in the motion picture and television production technology arena. From 1988 to 1993 Steve owned and operated Demonstrated Difference, a provider of sales and marketing services for technology companies. He then moved to California’s Silicon Valley to work in senior management roles for industry leaders including Abekas Video Systems and later, Silicon Graphics, Inc.
